My Story

I’m Cynthia, Founder and Studio Artist

Since I was a child, I’ve delighted in making things. I was instinctively drawn to fabrics, colors, materials, tools— both crude and sophisticated, from simple scissors and cardboard, to fabric, needle and thread.

Over the years, I scratched my creative itch playing piano, sewing and designing many of my clothes, costumes for my kids and slipcovers for furniture.

It wasn’t until Easter one year, when I needed a necklace to complement the suit I made, that I stumbled across jewelry making. I didn’t really know what I was doing, but I found the process playful and exciting. After sourcing supplies and experimenting with techniques I was able to make the perfect necklace to accessorize my suit.

It’s easy to think of creativity or art as indulgent. A luxury. Unnecessary. But my experience has taught me a different truth. Creativity in all its wonderfully varied forms is practical and fulfilling. I love to create. I love to source materials. I love playing with different elements to create jewelry I love to wear but also what others would enjoy. I utilize many types of materials always aiming for the best in terms of quality and design. I focus on God’s literal act of creation to be the guiding theme of what I design. My daily needs of sunlight and water; fresh air; an earth of provisions; a firm foundation for my feet; the sky, moon and stars that increase my wonder and inspire imagination; and the Creator as my King.

As consumers, so many have forgotten to be creators. Yet, our opportunities to create are endless, and the rewards for practicing creativity are life-changing. Creativity is imprinted upon us by the Creator, who gave us the gift of creation by making us, and instilling that same joy and adventure.

I will always lean toward beauty and being over the top in my artistic practice. But I recognize that it also serves as a continual recentering, a reminder that my true treasure is knowing my Creator.
